Schnoodle

The Schnoodle is a Schnauzer-Poodle mix known for its intelligence and loyalty.

Temperament

The Schnoodle is a smart, loyal, and affectionate companion that thrives on human interaction and family life. Playful and energetic, they enjoy being involved in activities and often form a strong bond with one or two primary people. Their protective nature makes them attentive watchdogs, yet they are usually friendly and sociable when properly socialized.

Health Considerations

Schnoodles are generally healthy dogs with a typical lifespan of around 12–16 years, depending on size and genetics. As a mixed breed, they can inherit health issues from either parent breed. Potential concerns include hip dysplasia, patellar luxation (loose kneecaps), eye conditions such as cataracts or progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), allergies, and certain skin issues. Smaller Schnoodles may also be prone to dental problems if their teeth are not properly cared for. Responsible breeders perform health testing on their breeding dogs and provide documentation for conditions common in Poodles and Schnauzers. Routine veterinary checkups—at least once a year for healthy adult dogs, more frequently for seniors—are essential for early detection of issues. Keeping your Schnoodle at a healthy weight, providing regular exercise, feeding a balanced diet, maintaining dental care, and staying up to date on vaccinations and parasite prevention will all help support a long, active life.
