Beagle

Merry and curious hounds known for their excellent sense of smell.

Temperamento

The Beagle is a friendly, merry, and curious hound with a strong pack instinct, making them highly social with people and other dogs. They are playful, energetic, and often very vocal, expressing themselves through barking, baying, and howling. Their strong food motivation and scent-driven nature make them both fun to train and sometimes stubborn when following interesting smells.

Consideraciones de Salud

Beagles are generally robust dogs with a typical lifespan of about 12–15 years, but like all breeds, they are predisposed to certain health conditions. Common concerns include obesity (due to their strong appetite), ear infections (because of their floppy ears), allergies, and dental disease. Some Beagles may also be prone to hip dysplasia, patellar luxation, intervertebral disc disease, hypothyroidism, epilepsy, or certain eye conditions such as glaucoma and progressive retinal atrophy. Regular veterinary checkups, including vaccinations, parasite prevention, and annual wellness exams, are essential to detect issues early. A balanced diet with controlled portions, proper exercise, routine ear and dental care, and weight management significantly improve overall health and quality of life. Responsible breeders screen their breeding dogs for hereditary conditions, so choosing a reputable source is important for long-term health.
