Bullmastiff
El Bullmastiff es una poderosa raza guardiana conocida por su lealtad e instintos protectores.
Temperamento
The Bullmastiff is an affectionate, loyal, and deeply devoted family guardian. Calm and steady indoors, this breed is naturally brave and alert, using its power and presence as a deterrent rather than aggression. With proper socialization, Bullmastiffs are reliable companions that bond closely with their people and are typically reserved but polite with strangers.
Consideraciones de Salud
Bullmastiffs are generally robust but, like many large breeds, they are predisposed to certain health issues. Common concerns include hip and elbow dysplasia, cruciate ligament injuries, and osteoarthritis, all related to their size and weight. They may also be prone to certain heart conditions (such as subaortic stenosis), eyelid abnormalities (entropion or ectropion), and some cancers. Bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus) is a serious, potentially life‑threatening emergency that large, deep‑chested dogs can experience. The average lifespan of a Bullmastiff is around 7–10 years. Responsible breeders screen for genetic conditions, and owners should work closely with a veterinarian for regular checkups, weight management, joint monitoring, and appropriate vaccinations and parasite prevention. Discuss diet, exercise, and any signs of breathing difficulty, limping, or lethargy with your vet promptly to address problems early.
