Calupoh
El Calupoh es una raza de perro híbrido mexicano creada cruzando perros con lobos grises mexicanos.
Temperamento
The Mexican Wolfdog (Calupoh) is a noble, calm, and highly loyal companion with a strong protective instinct toward its family. Intelligent and observant, it forms deep bonds with its primary caregivers and can be reserved or aloof with strangers. With proper socialization, the Calupoh is stable, confident, and generally tolerant, but it requires experienced handling and clear boundaries.
Consideraciones de Salud
Because the Calupoh is a relatively young and rare breed with a limited but carefully managed gene pool, large-scale health data are still developing. However, responsible breeders aim to select for robust, functional dogs, and many Calupohs appear to enjoy good general health with an estimated life expectancy of around 12–14 years when properly cared for. Potential health concerns—based on similar medium-to-large, athletic breeds—may include hip or elbow dysplasia, certain eye conditions, and orthopedic injuries from overexertion, especially in young dogs. Prospective owners should seek breeders who perform health screenings (such as hip and elbow evaluations and eye exams) and who prioritize temperament and sound structure over extreme looks. Regular veterinary checkups, vaccinations, parasite prevention, and weight management are crucial. Because of their wolf ancestry, some Calupohs can be more sensitive to stress, sedation, and certain medications, so it is wise to work with a veterinarian experienced with primitive or wolf-like breeds and to discuss tailored anesthetic and handling protocols.
