Golden Retrievers are generally healthy, but like all purebred dogs, they are predisposed to certain conditions. Goldens also have an increased risk of certain cancers, including hemangiosarcoma and lymphoma, so regular veterinary checkups and monitoring for any unusual lumps, lethargy, or weight changes are very important. With responsible breeding, good nutrition, appropriate exercise, and preventative care, Golden Retrievers typically live around 10–12 years.
